A CALL TO ARTISTS
Art show and sale to benefit Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture, Cedar City, Utah. Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture is a 501c3, that promotes and advocates for the exposure, education, and success of urban and rural farms throughout Utah. A Taste of Art is an event featuring food and drink purveyors throughout Utah to include farmers, chef’s, wineries and distillers — all of whom will donate certain portions of their offerings toward the event.
We are seeking artists in all media to represent, through their art, farming and farm life. Subjects must be farm related, but can include people, animals, landscapes, crops, farm events, etc. Artists are required to select subject matter specific to the participating venues. Artists will also have the opportunity to work en plein air at a number of farms throughout Utah. The actual list of venues that would love to host artists (and suggested time frames) will be made available. The time frame for visiting the farms will be between March 2025 and December 2025.
A Taste of Art will take place at location to be determined, most likely in the Salt Lake area. The host farm will donate the use of their facility for this event. Art can be valued at any price range, but in an effort to offer affordable art to event patrons, we are suggesting artists' work be valued no more than $1200. All flat art is to be framed, but should be simply and economically done so, so as not to inflate the retail value of the piece.
Art will be priced by event coordinators in consultation with the artist's recommended retail value. Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture will partner with participating artists who will receive 50% of the sale amount (with 50% going to the Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture.) Any unsold art will be returned to the artist.
Deadlines are as follows:
January 1, 2025 — Application process opens. Please email: lindaskiley@gmail.com with your intent to apply; medium in which you work; a few images of current work; Instagram or website address if you have one (no Facebook).
February 15, 2025 — Application deadline.
February 22, 2025 — Accepted artists will be notified by email.
February-early March, 2025 — A Taste of a Taste of Art Preview event to take place at HK Brewery in Salt Lake City, where the selected artists and chosen farmers and ranchers will be invited to meet and enjoy live music, local food and learn more about Red Acre Center for Food and Agriculture. All artists and farmers are invited to attend.
March 29, 2025 — A Taste of Art 2025 taking place at Snuck Farm, Salt Lake City, UT
March 2026 — A Taste of Art 2026. Exact date and location TBD.
